Choreography Samples

Choreography Samples

After touring the world as a professional ballet dancer and principal performer in musical theater, Larissa began choreographing for dance schools, Equity productions and large scale theaters.  She continues to explore her personal moment language of Balanchine ballet, Native American dances and storytelling through movement and text.

Larissa believe that everyone can dance and specializes in working with non-trained dancers by helping them find their personal movement style and integrating it into an organic choreographic process.

Three samples from two shows. In both casts very few performers had ANY dance experience. Many had never danced in their lives. Sample one: South Pass, musical in Jackson WY. Mountain man and woman dance. The two groups are in different locations, singing about each other.  The goal was to give the feeling of dancing together even though they are apart.

Sample two: South Pass ensemble number. The challenge was to stage movement without "dancing" so that the whole cast could participate with energy.

Sample three: Unto These Hills, Cherokee NC. A contemporary version of the traditional Cherokee Eagle Dance. The challenge was to utilize a large ensemble with very little movement experience in a way that was effective in a 2800 seat amphitheater.
